How Does the Online Personal Trainer Certificate work?
Once a £500 deposit has been paid, students are then enrolled onto the ESFA online personal trainer certificate given access to the Active IQ online learning platform and to the learner manuals. At this point students are able to begin their study for the course and are encouraged to make regular contact with the ESFA tutors if they have any queries or questions about the course content. Once the students have completed the e-learning, they are then required to complete some coursework prior to their arrival onto the 2 week practical element of the course. Again, ESFA tutors are available online to provide coursework guidance to the student.
The students then join us at Oliva Nova for the practical assessment element of the online personal trainer certification.
During week 1, students undertake the Level 2 Gym Fitness Instructors qualification. This course is completed first as it is a pre-requisite for all of the other qualifications that they will be completing whilst on the course with us.
During this course, students will cover topics ranging from Anatomy and Physiology, to the planning and design of resistance and cardiovascular training programmes. They are assessed by theory exam and by practical assessments in the gym. Students also then apply their exercise knowledge gained on this qualification to complete the Level 2 Circuit Instruction award.
In Week 2 of the online personal trainer course, the course content shifts up a gear to take in the Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification. In the classroom, the students’ theoretical knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology is broadened and also concepts such as Applied Bio-mechanics, Health Testing and screening and Nutrition for activity are covered and tested by theory exam. Once completed, the students’ attention is then pushed toward the practical side of becoming a personal fitness instructor. They learn the concepts of and how to instruct advanced exercise techniques in the gym. They are also given invaluable tools for teaching fitness outdoors. This includes the Advanced Padwork qualification, the outdoor personal fitness training sessions on the beach and sports pitches and then finally the Level 2 kettlebell instructor qualification. The online personal trainer qualification concludes with the student being practically assessed while delivering their own exercise session to a ‘client’.
